Fiona Jane

Fiona attended Lord Williams's school in Thame, Oxfordshire from 1974, leaving in 1981 to complete a one year Foundation Art Course at High Wycombe college of Further Education in Buckinghamshire. From there she went on to study for a BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion and Textiles at Liverpool Polytechnic, achieving a 2:1 qualification. Her final degree show was influenced by Kashmiri Shawls at the Victoria and Albert Museum - leading to her love of Paisley shapes and bright colours which you can see throughout many of her pieces.

A brief spell in a design studio on Lake Constance, Switzerland fed her desire to carry out detailed work with a specific theme. Time spent in Australia and South Africa gave her ideas which she then used as a vehicle for her love of the colour palette. Large areas of flat colours juxtaposed with one another is exciting, as are the marks of spots, lines and cross-hatching which can be seen in a lot of her work.

She has held a number of exhibitions across the years, whilst teaching Textiles and Food at secondary school level. She would love art to become the main part of what she does, continuing to express herself through a love of decorative styles.
